History

Today around 140 athletes train in Bishkek with about six biathlon coaches. Besides results, the coaches work on reach: demonstrations at public events, a mobile air-rifle range, and media coverage.

  1. 2000

    The Biathlon Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic is founded.

  2. 2002

    A biathlon department opens at the Olympic Reserve Sports School named after S. Dzhumanazarov in Bishkek.

  3. 2003

    The first Asian Biathlon Cup is held in Cholpon-Ata and recognised by the International Biathlon Union.

  4. 2004

    Two of the school’s specialists receive the IBU International Referee licence.

  5. 2003–2023

    Kyrgyz coaches attend IBU coaching seminars every year.

  6. 2020

    Elena Bondarets and Islam Turganbaev race at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne.

  7. 2025

    The relay team finishes sixth at the Asian Winter Games in Harbin. Baigazy Kenzhebaev is elected president of the federation.

Anti-doping

Kyrgyz biathletes compete under the IBU Anti-Doping Rules and the World Anti-Doping Code. Athletes and coaches can check substances and rules at the links below.
